Anne Marie was an attendee at Awesomeness Fest, Bali 2013.

During a particularly powerful Lisa Nichols session I suddenly felt a fundamental shift in my consciousness which felt seismic to say the least. I broke down, and if it hadn’t been for the wonderful Jacqueline Shaulis who physically held me whilst this was happening I would have collapsed in a heap on the floor.”

On 14th June 2013 I walked out of the gates of the school I had been teaching at for 5 years, with absolutely no idea as to what was going to happen next. I was turning my back on an international teaching career spanning 14 years, not out of pride, arrogance or inability ( in fact I had been a successful teacher), but something in my universe was “out of joint”.

I knew that I was going to do my ‘eat, pray, love’ year. I knew that I had worked and saved hard for it, and I had some vague notions of potential destinations, but that was it really. Nobody had told me to do this, nobody had said I should do this- I was just going on gut instinct. Burnt out, spent out and with a host of physical ailments which were metaphorical expressions of a deep internal spiritual malaise, I just knew that there was something different ‘out there’. I had to break free or die a slow ‘death’.

Two days later, on 17th June 2013, I received an email in my inbox inviting me to Awesomeness Fest Bali. My first reaction was ‘what the hell is this?’, and my second reaction, after perusing the website, was ‘I just have to do this, I don’t know why, but it feels right’.

Awesomeness Fest Bali 2013 was a turning point – a game-changer.

New information was being thrown at me at the speed of light, new ideas, and new expressions. Remember – I had just spent the last 14 years in the closed confines of the cloistered world of the teaching profession. I knew next to nothing about the world of technology, innovation, personal development and all the amazing minds that were coming into my orbit. Please don’t laugh, but seriously, I hadn’t even heard of the word ‘entrepreneur’ before Awesomeness Fest.

During a particularly powerful Lisa Nicholls session I suddenly felt a fundamental shift in my consciousness which felt seismic to say the least. I broke down, and if it hadn’t been for the wonderful JACQUELINE SHAULIS who physically held me whilst this was happening I would have collapsed in a heap on the floor. Jacqueline described the sensation as a shift of energy akin to an ancient old tree being finally uplifted from its roots which lay deep in the ground.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Due to Afest and the subsequent wonderful ILab which I attended in February 2014 (again in Bali) I have now been able to pinpoint my passion and have started setting a flight path which is twofold. Firstly, creating a new arts in education business from Bali, whilst connecting and networking with the community of artists and healers on the island. Secondly, setting up a foundation in Nepal targeting disadvantaged youth through film and drama. Both projects are aligned in passion and purpose.

All I can say is that the sudden appearance of Afest in my life was an act of divine synchronicity. I had already set my intention but with no attached outcomes. And now, here I am in Bali, 6 months down the line with a whole new world opening up in front of me. The sheer beauty of its design fills me with awe every day of my life and the word “gratitude” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

What started as a year of pure travel has transformed into a totally different experience. I seem to be looking and feeling younger by the day, freaky events of synchronicity seem to be coming at me on an almost daily basis and I go to bed every night now with a huge grin on my face, as opposed to floods of tears as in the previous years:

Something has changed within me, something is not the same. I’m through with playing by the rules of someone else’s game. Too late for second guessing, too late to go to sleep, it’s time to trust my instincts, close my eyes and………. leap…..”

About Anne Marie:

We are deeply saddened by the news of Afester Anne Marie Kathryn Drozdz’ sudden passing in Ubud, Bali on Thursday 22 May 2014. Anne Marie was a beautiful, kind, generous, and fascinating woman.

Anne Marie was an attendee at Awesomeness Fest, Bali 2013.

Anne-Marie was living her dream in Bali, delivering workshops with the aim of helping people conquer their fear and anxiety. In addition to her work in Bali, she was in the process of working towards setting up a social enterprise in Nepal to target disadvantaged youth, through the creation of a film and drama institute. The aim was to empower these youth to start telling stories of their own lives. Both projects are a testament to her kind and giving personality.

We would like to send our deepest condolences to Anne Marie’s Family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
