And it’s a wrap!
A-fest Costa Rica, which took place October 22-25 in Guanacaste just wrapped up and it was truly incredible.
This particular location is very close to our hearts.
Guanacaste, Costa Rica, is the birthplace of the very first A-fest; the place where it first began back in 2011… And our return home was absolute magic.
We couldn’t have chosen a more spectacular setting for this tribe of 350 incredible entrepreneurs, game changers and visionaries to come together in a paradise location to bond, learn and grow.
And the calibre of the attendees at this event amazed us (attendees included actresses, NFL and NBA players, a man who’s worked with 7 US presidents, teachers, best-selling authors, speakers and more).
Because of the calibre of attendees, the event featured peer-to-peer learning and Tribe-led break-out sessions which focused on the cross-pollination of knowledge and experience between Tribe members to create real-life, tangible tools and takeaways for fellow attendees — a highlight for many.
We had many inspiring speakers take the stage including our wonderful friend Lisa Nichols; creator of The Lefkoe Method, Morty Lefkoe, speaker & author Christie Marie Sheldon, bestselling author Noah St John, world renowned celebrity therapist Marisa Peer, and more.
And then there were our evening events….
Here are some of the highlights:
The day before Awesomeness Fest kicked off, sexuality coach, author and yogi, Pslam Isadora, and CEO of Motivating the Masses and Star of ‘The Secret’ Lisa Nichols ran separate workshop sessions, complimentary for Afesters. These workshops created a whole lot of contagious inspiration and energy to kick A-fest off.
That night, we held a ‘Welcome to Costa Rica’ Cocktail Party featuring some amazing local culture and hospitality. Already we were off to a great start.
On day one of A-fest we had a Tropical Dinner Party where we had a taste of Costa Rica’s Atlantic Caribbean culture featuring a Calypso band and dancers. We also had local artist Carlos Hiller, who is dedicated to marine conservation, create a large scale and collaborative piece of art for the group.
On day two, we headed to surfer’s paradise at Lola’s, a well-known local venue, for a night of good vibes in true “Pura Vida” fashion. Attendees kicked off their shoes and danced the night away in the sand to Un Rojo reggae band and enjoyed fire shows, henna tattoos, bonfires and more.
On the afternoon of day 3, we cruised down the beautiful Costa Rican coast on three large catamarans, stopping at a beautiful isolated beach for time to snorkel, paddleboard and kayak. The Human Experience aka David Block played his first of 3 sets on the water. On the way back, all 3 catamarans were visited by schools of dolphins against the backdrop of a magnificent sunset.
Later that evening, we had a Cacao Ceremony and pool party with tribal performances, fire dancing, mermaids and more. Cacao, revered since ancient times for its mystical properties, helped create a field of intention for the group.
On day four we held our closing party, which was themed “Magical Rainforest.”
One of our best events in history, it featured another incredible set by David Block as well as aerealist performances, fire shows, body painted characters, a life-size butterfly farm with human butterflies, a music performance and more… but it was an electrical “blackout” that really surprised attendees with a surprise blacklight neon performance and paint erupting from the stage.
The evening and event came to a close with a beautiful fireworks display over the beach.
While we were having all these transformations and loads of fun, we were able to raise money to donate to our charity partner, the XPRIZE Foundation. We also organized an optional Give Back Day as an opportunity for our attendees to “spread the awesomeness” with a volunteer project that gave back to the local community.
One of our rockstar Tribe members and previous Afest speakers, Stephen Brooks, led a full day initiative working with non-profit called CEPIA (Culture, Education and Psychology for Infants and Adolescents), an organisation that seeks to promote culture, health, sports and education for children, teenagers and their families from low-income backgrounds in the community of Guanacaste.
The day was absolutely beautiful and without a doubt a highlight for many who attended. We’ve received incredible feedback from participants and are thankful for another transformational event with our Tribe.
While we’re sad it’s over, we’re already starting to gear up planning for our 2016 events and will be sharing dates and locations in the near future. Make sure you sign up to our mailing list so that you’re the first to know when tickets go on sale.
